NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Six Orange County athletes will play for gold Saturday in Olympic water polo after successful the semifinals match.
The U.S. ladies’s water polo staff defeated the Russian Olympic Committee staff and can vie for gold towards Spain.
California is well-represented on the 13-member U.S. ladies’s water polo staff: In Orange County, Kaleigh Gilchrist and Maddie Musselman of Newport Seaside, be a part of sisters Aria and Makenzie Fischer, each of Laguna Seaside, Rachel Fattal of Seal Seaside and Alys Williams of Huntington Seaside. Northern California gamers embrace Melissa Seidemann of Walnut Creek and Maggie Steffens of Danville function on the staff. Paige Hauschild of Santa Barbara, Jamie Neuschul of Isla Vista, and Amanda Longan of Moorpark make up the Santa Barbara and Ventura County gamers.
Within the semifinal match, Aria Fischer of Laguna Seaside gave the U.S. the lead for good together with her rating on the five-minute, five-second marker. Fischer broke the 11-11 tie within the high-scoring recreation. Her older sister, Makenzie Fischer, scored twice within the recreation.
Maddie Musselman of Newport Seaside scored 4 of her 5 targets within the second half as the USA ladies’s water polo staff overcame three three-goal deficits to defeat the Russian Olympic Committee, 15- 11, Thursday to achieve the gold-medal recreation.
