Newport Beach Promotes Two Longtime Employees To Leadership Roles

(City of Newport Beach)NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach officials announced Monday it promoted two longtime employees who have worked for the city for more than 20 years to leadership roles. Melissa Hartson and Sean Levin are the city’s new directors of Library Services and Recreation and Seniors Services, respectively. The two began their new roles in mid-May. Hartson has worked for the Newport Beach Public Library for more than 26 years and started as a library page, according to city spokesman John Pope. She takes over for Tim Hetherton, who recently retired. Levin takes over Newport Beach’s Recreation and Senior Services from Laura Detweiler. Pope said Levin has 25 years of experience “providing recreational services for cities,” with 20 years spent with Newport Beach.
