SANTA CLARA, CA — Intel introduced it is shopping for Israeli manufacturing firm Tower Semiconductor for $5.4 billion, buying a number of factories world wide, together with one in Newport Seaside.
The deal permits Intel to develop its manufacturing capability and meet the rising demand for semiconductors, the corporate mentioned in an announcement launched Tuesday.
Pat Gelsinger, Intel’s CEO, mentioned the deal will “unlock new alternatives for present and future clients.”
